This page is just a collection of quotes that I liked, along with some of my thoughts around them.

The creative process is a process of surrender, not control.

- Julia Cameron

Process are meant to create moments of reflection, not checklists. Learn to let go of control, and to welcome outliers. Not all deviations are bad and what worked in the past might not work now.

No changing of a place at a hundred miles an hour will make us one whit stronger, happier, or wiser. There was always more in the world than men could see, walked they ever so slowly; they will see it no better for going fast.

- The School of Life, How to Travel

We seldom notice details, especially when we move fast. Slow things down. Take the time to take in not just impressive things, but also the simple things that bring us solace and joy, sometimes even without us realising it till they're gone.

Progress means simplifying, not complicating.

- Bruno Munari

The best things are invisible where there, but noticeable when gone. Practice thoughtful reduction - when in doubt, remove.

...'enshittification,' to describe the way that platforms decay. We're all living through the enshittocene, a great enshittening, in which the services that matter to us, that we rely on, are turning into giant piles of shit.

- Cory Doctorow

When we are engrossed, it's easy to forget zoom out and think about how platforms have changed from the beginning to what they are now. Be mindful of the concept of platform decay. Consider intentions and reframe approaches to business objectives so that we can preserve the initial value delivered to users to the greatest extent possible.

This means I design for 'circumstances' or 'conditions' rather than making 'things'.

- Kenya Hara, White

I like this perspective when it comes to human centric design.

Sometimes, you have to go too far to find the right balance.

- My yoga teacher

I don't see this as balance, but rather the act of balancing which is a constant, intentional effort. There is no end, and even if things may seem easy on the surface, there is always effort to make constant micro-adjustments to maintain its state.

To be away from home and yet to feel oneself everywhere at home; to see the world, to be at the centre of the world, and yet to remain hidden from the world...

- Charles Baudelaire

I first came across the term 'flâneur' when I was in GSA and have always been fascinated with the concept. This quote resonated with me because it perfectly described my experiences, having lived in 13 cities, but unsure of where home is.
